Libyan Minister of Youth Meets with the Executive Committee of the Afro Arab Youth Council
The Libyan Minister of Youth, Mr. Fathallah Abdel Latif, met with the Members of the Executive Committee of the Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) on the sidelines of the African Youth Forum held in Oran, Algeria, from November 1st to 4th, 2024. The forum is hosted in partnership with the African Union Commission and the Algerian Higher Youth Council, with participation from 55 African countries, as well as ministers and youth experts.
Dr. Nabil Yahiaoui, President of the AAYC, expressed his happiness and appreciation for the trust placed by the Libyan government in appointing Mr. Fathallah Abdel Latif, who is regarded as one of the founding members and key figures of the council since its establishment in Khartoum in 2004.
The Secretary-General of the Council, Eng. Huzyfa Elhassan, confirmed that the Council’s mission to empower youth has achieved significant milestones, with many former council members now holding leadership positions in various Arab and African countries. He emphasized that the council's efforts continue to focus on training and preparing youth leaders across different fields.
For his part, Minister Fathallah Abdel Latif reaffirmed Libya’s commitment to supporting the council’s activities and programs. He also extended his gratitude to the Sudanese government for its ongoing support and care for the Council’s General Secretariat over the past two decades. The Minister highlighted the historical role of the council in promoting peace and stability across member states, and called upon member countries to consider the exceptional circumstances currently facing Sudan, in recognition of its vital contributions to strengthening the Arab-African space.
The Executive Committee delegation included representatives from Algeria, Sudan, Nigeria, Libya, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Mauritania, Bahrain, Chad, and Côte d'Ivoire.
