Khartoum – September 3, 2025

Under the patronage of Lieutenant General Engineer (Navy) Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, the major youth campaign “One Million Volunteers – Rebuilding the Nation” was launched this morning in Umbada locality, Khartoum State, with broad official, youth, and community participation.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Khartoum State Minister of Youth and Sports, representing the Governor of the State, the Executive Director of Umbada Locality, representatives of the State Security Committee, as well as leaders of youth and community organizations.

The campaign is organized by the Arab and African Youth Council, in partnership with the Sudan Youth Union, as part of efforts to enhance the role of youth in reconstruction and community development, in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which affirms that “Africa’s development is people-driven, relying especially on youth.”

The initiative aims to mobilize one million volunteers to implement field projects, including the reconstruction of schools, rehabilitation of health centers, sanitation and environmental campaigns, in addition to combating mosquitoes and epidemics.

Eng. Huzayfa Al-Hassan, Secretary-General of the Arab and African Youth Council, affirmed that the initiative represents a message of solidarity with Sudan during this critical phase and reflects the spirit of Arab and African partnership. He noted that it comes in response to the recommendations of the Executive Committee meeting at the Oran Conference, which emphasized supporting Sudan and empowering its youth.

For his part, Mr. Ali Al-Hadi, President of the Sudan Youth Union, praised the strong engagement of youth in the campaign, stressing that the Union, in cooperation with the Council, will continue efforts to expand the initiative to cover all states of Sudan.

The event also witnessed the launch of the first field convoys from Umbada youth, alongside the arrival of a youth convoy from Kassala in support of the reconstruction efforts in Khartoum.
