The Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC), in partnership with the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization – Africa (NAMYO Africa), officially launched the NAMYO Volunteer Network – Africa (NVN Africa), the largest continental volunteer network dedicated to empowering African youth.

The launch event was held on 16 December 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria, with the participation of youth leaders, civil society representatives, and partners from across the continent.

NVN Africa aims to mobilize African youth to actively engage in community development, responsible citizenship, climate action, peacebuilding, and sustainable development, in alignment with the African Union Agenda 2063 and continental youth empowerment priorities.

The Secretary-General of the Afro-Arab Youth Council stated that volunteerism is not merely an act of service but a form of leadership and a pathway to sustainable development, emphasizing that the launch of NVN Africa represents a strategic investment in young Africans as true agents of change capable of shaping resilient communities and advancing the Africa We Want under Agenda 2063.

The event also highlighted the importance of youth-led volunteer networks in supporting the African Union Commission’s 1 Million Next Level Initiative, which seeks to equip young Africans with skills, opportunities, and meaningful platforms for participation in development and governance.

Bello Bala Shagari, Vice Chair of the NAM Youth Organization – Africa Region, stated that NVN Africa represents a new model of youth volunteerism in Africa, combining technology with structured engagement to mobilize young people for leadership, skills development, and sustainable community transformation.

Through this strategic partnership, the Afro-Arab Youth Council reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening youth-led initiatives, promoting volunteerism as a tool for social transformation, and advancing Afro-Arab cooperation in youth empowerment across Africa.
