The 6th African Youth Leadership Diplomatic Conference (AYLDC 2026) has officially commenced in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, bringing together more than 250 young leaders representing over 30 African countries, alongside a distinguished group of high-level officials and decision-makers.
The opening session witnessed remarkable official attendance, led by:
* H.E. Dr. Ergoge Tesfaye, Minister of Women and Social Affairs – Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
* H.E. Mr. Albert Tawanda, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works – Republic of Zimbabwe
* Mr. Jacob Mafume, Mayor of Harare – Zimbabwe
* Ms. Seraphine Kando, Representative of the African Union
* Mr. Chala Aseffa, Founder and Executive Director of the Ethiopian Youth Dialogue for Peace Association (EYDPA)
Discussions during the first day addressed key issues related to peace and security in Africa, as well as the economic and social challenges facing youth, and explored ways to strengthen their role in decision-making and in building a sustainable future for the continent.
The Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) took part in organizing this important continental event, with a delegation representing several Arab and African countries, reaffirming its growing role as an active strategic partner in supporting and empowering African youth. Eng. Huzyfa Elhassan, Secretary-General of the Council, also worked to enhance the Council’s presence through engagement with official leaders and participants, and by opening new avenues for cooperation and dialogue at both regional and international levels.
