The Afro-Arab Youth Council conducted an official visit to the headquarters of the Ethiopian Youth for Peace and Development (EYPD) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African youth institutions and expanding institutional cooperation across the continent.
The AAYC delegation was led by H.E. Eng. Huzyfa Elhassan, Secretary-General of the Council, accompanied by Mr. Hassan Khatmi, Assistant Secretary-General. The delegation was received by Mr. Alem Kessaye, Executive Director of EYPD, Mr. Liban Hailu, Program Director, together with members of the organization's leadership.
The meeting represented another important milestone in the strategic partnership between the two organizations, focusing on advancing the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in March 2026 and translating it into practical initiatives that create meaningful opportunities for young people across Africa.
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in peacebuilding, youth empowerment, youth diplomacy, leadership development, entrepreneurship and innovation, civic engagement, and institutional capacity building.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General congratulated the newly appointed leadership of EYPD, expressing confidence in their ability to advance the organization's mission while reaffirming that AAYC considers EYPD a strategic partner in the Horn of Africa.
Both organizations emphasized their shared commitment to expanding cooperation through joint programmes, knowledge exchange, institutional collaboration, and regional initiatives that contribute to the implementation of the African Union Agenda 2063, while promoting peace, sustainable development, and youth leadership.
